I'm not a big sculpture person because its just not an art i care for, however when my teacher introduced us to linoleum i jumped at the chance to make one.
A linoleum block is basically a gray squishy square which can be cut to make a piece of art. You first get a piece of sketch paper and trace how big your block is. Then you draw any picture you want, i did a wolf. Flip the paper over and shade in the back.
Next gather all your materials. You are going to need a small rolling pin,any ink color, something to put your ink on, that metal thing, and the blue cutter.
Then your going to trace your drawing on a block. Then use a sharpy to darken the lines. Next you can start cutting your block, always cut away from yourself and use two hands.(I had to hold the camera with my right hand) There's many different blades you can use. Make sure to experiment before diving head first into your project.
After you have carved your picture into the linoleum its time to ink.(mine has left over ink on it, i forgot to clean it ). Place a bit of ink on your metal slab and use the roller to spread it out until you get an orange peel texture.
Place your block face down on your selected paper and push down on it.
This should be your end result.
I hope you have l learned something from this tutorial. Happy Sculpting!!
